Amy & Josh's Wedding @ The Riverview (Simsbury, Connecticut)

Amy and Josh were married at The Riverview (a Waterview Catering Facility) in Simsbury, Connecticut on June 20, 2009. I was so happy when Amy and Josh selected me to photograph their wedding because I know both of them from school. I went to elementary school with Amy, and Josh I knew from college. It's such a small world, and I couldn't be happier that they found each other. Congrats!!

Click here to view a slideshow with more images from Amy and Josh's wedding.

Here are a select few of my favorites from the day. Enjoy!

Michael Jackson

I first heard the news via text from my best friend Sarah. I didn't believe it, Michael Jackson dead?

Michael Jackson was for sure my first musician that I loved. My sister Alison (Ali for short) and I had the Thriller on record, which played on our Fisher Price record player. One of my first memories includes us fighting over the record (my sister and I), and unfortunately ruining it. I also remember being scared to watch the Thriller video, and hiding underneath the blanket while Ali watched on.

There is a TON of coverage out on the internet, I just felt the need to share what I could remember of my very early childhood and Michael.

I feel the need to include some of my favorites;

Rock with You-I love this video!!! It's the light combo with the sparkly clothing
The Way You Make Me Feel - Tell me you could sit still though listening to this song, I don't think it's possible.
P.Y.T - I didn't appreciate this song until I was a little older, it is a fabulous jam.
Scream - featuring Janet Jackson, at the time I was a huge Janet fan and super psyched about the collaboration.
Don't Stop Until You Get Enough I love the early stuff, what can I say?

Kind words from Carolyn and Rob

Today I kind a really lovely email from one of my June 2009 brides, it totally made my day---just have to share!!!

"Dear Alissa, I'm sure you hear this from every single bride you photograph, but THANK YOU for these beautiful wedding photographs! We just got back from the honeymoon (and back to work) and I haven't had a chance to  look at each one, and am seriously counting the minutes until I can go home and look through them in a "real" way. As someone who is completely un-photogenic, you somehow managed to make me look pretty in every photo I've looked at :)

Also, we enjoyed working with you and Jeff so much-- you were both so relaxed, which really put us at ease!"  --Carolyn

As a side note, Carolyn is photogenic and Carolyn and Rob were an absolute pleasure to work with. Jeff and I had a fabulous time at their wedding.

he's just not that into you (the movie)

I've been so busy lately, when I'm home relaxing I don't feel like leaving the house. I thought Netflix would be a good idea, home delivery of movies sounds ideal to me.

My first movie that I watched was he's just not that into you. I'm a HUGE  SATC fan, and I read the book, he's just not that into you when it came out. The book was sparked by a SATC episode where Miranda was told when making excuses for a guy, that "he's just not that into you." Then, there was the movie. To be honest, I liked the book, but it could have  been shorter, by the middle it just seemed repetitive to me. Long story short, don't make excuses for men, when they're into you, you'll know it.

I have to say, I really enjoyed the movie (and the reviews weren't fantastic). As I was watching it, and John was on his laptop probably looking at sports scores, but he eventually put it down and joined me. There were several characters (Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Connelly, Bradly Cooper, Ginnifer Goodwin, Scarlett Johansson, Kevin Connolly, and Justin Long--seriously loved them all in this movie) and story lines to keep me in intrigued. I say, watch it! It is cute, enjoyable, honest, funny, and real.

Carolyn & Rob's Wedding at Lord Thompson Manor

Carolyn and Rob were married just a couple days ago, Saturday, June 13th at the Lord Thompson Manor in Thompson, Connecticut (one of my favorite places to photograph!). With all the rain we've been receiving lately, we were really lucky to have a gorgeous day.

My highlights from the wedding include not one, but two wedding gowns, and we took all formal pictures prior to the ceremony. I know this isn't tradition, but it was wonderful to get the must haves done right away, leaving the rest of the time for Jeff and I to capture the event.

Kate & Jon's Wedding at Hartford's Society Room

Kate and Jon were recently married on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Saint Mary's in Simsbury, Connecticut. The celebration followed in Hartford at The Society Room

To briefly sum up the wedding, it was a gorgeous day, couple, and event. I had so much fun working with Kate and Jon and their family and friends--maybe a little too much fun (is it allowed to have fun while working??). On the more serious side, you'll see in the pictures that Kate and Jon are truly an amazing couple and it was a honor to capture this event.

Some of the vendors from the wedding include; The Society Room, Clark Eno Orchestra, Lane and Lenge Florists, Priscilla of Boston bridal gowns, and Men's Warehouse tuxes.

Kent Falls Engagement Session: Noelle & Mike

Noelle and Mike are to be married on July 11, 2009 at St. Johns the Evangelist in Mahopac, New York. The celebration to follow is going to be held at The Waterview in Monroe, Connecticut.

This past Sunday evening I photographed Noelle and Mike's engagement session at the Kent Falls in Kent, Connecticut. It was a blast, soooo fun!! It's hard to take a bad picture of these two. Even the ones where I said, this is not working, let's try something else worked out. I found myself smiling while processing these pictures (no joke, me smiling at a computer screen). If this is a warm up to the wedding, then I'm in for some kind of wonderful.

Here are a few of my favorite images from the session. Enjoy!

The Moving Process

John and I have been in the new house for a week now, and I'm really happy with our new home. My favorite part so far is the four season sun room, I LOVE IT!! I'm in the room now, on my laptop. I feel like I'm outside, every window I look out of is pretty!

To date, I have moved, helped paint the front room (which will be my show room), and my dad has been working really hard on painting my office (THANKS DAD!!). The office is taking a while because it's all wood and there is a built in--which had wall-paper behind it.

Today I took a few pictures of the house, just to share. Enjoy!

This is the front of the house. Underneath the right bay window is a little stone patio, the stones are from Main Street in Bristol.
IMG_1042And this is the front room, the wall color is Benjamin Moore titanium, which I think looks great with the stone fireplace. The wood beams in this room are old telephone poles.IMG_0993 The window treatments were the previous owners, and I'm so happy that they go with everything I bought--one less thing to worry about. I love this little table in the corner from Ethan Allen. IMG_0996 These little vases are the colors (pretty much) of the upholstered furniture that is in production. The sofa is going to be a lighter color (kind of white, ivory, silver color) and I also ordered two matching chairs in a sage green color.IMG_0998 I totally love the plant pots I found at Lowes--I'm now a big fan of that store!!IMG_1001 Here is my Mac Pro, just sitting, waiting, wishing. There are no eggs in the egg boxes--FYI they are fabulous for moving.IMG_1006 And the twins, also waiting patiently to be placed in their new home.IMG_1009 Here's my office, in it's current state. The paint was peeling off the walls, which is why we decided to go through and paint. I have A LOT of stuff and once I get it in here, I'm not going to want to move it out. There are doors that go on the bottom of the built-in, which are in the garage drying.IMG_1015 This plant was given to us by our new neighbors--isn't that so nice?!IMG_1018 And the bleeding hearts are in the yard, I can't wait to see what else pops up. IMG_1024 IMG_1028 IMG_1031

E-M-E spells Eme!!

Last night John and I had the pleasure to watch Eme, my almost two year old Godchild, for the first time ever! Sarah and Barry (and family) had a wedding to attend, and since I had the night off, I had the opportunity to play for a change.

Eme, John, and I accomplished  a lot in a small amount of time; we made tons of bubbles, played with Play Doh, had some chicken nuggets, played on Eme's swingset, and watched Sarah and Barry's wedding video.

Here are a few pics from our play date . Enjoy!

Carolyn & Brad's Album: 12" Square Original Wedding Album

Carolyn and Brad were married on Sunday, April 29, 2007 (Happy Second Anniversary!!). The ceremony took place at Saint Patrick's and the celebration was held at Saint Clements Castle. Other wedding vendors include DJ Mike Connolly, Jessica's Country Flowers, Naomi Martinez, The White Dress by the Shore, and Smashing Cards.

Thinking back on the day of the wedding, Jeff and I had so much fun capturing memories for Carolyn and Brad, can we do a do-over for fun??  Almost a year after the wedding, I decided to give Carolyn's cookie recipe a try. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful making the cookies. I'm honestly am a pretty good baker, but when it comes to cookies, not so much a great baker.

Below is a slideshow of Carolyn and Brad's 12" Square, Original Wedding Album. Click here to view their wedding day slideshow.
